AUSTIN, Texas – November 2, 2011 – Pervasive Software® Inc. (NASDAQ: PVSW), a global leader in cloud-based and on-premises data innovation, today announced that the Pervasive Big Data Products and Solutions team has partnered with Hortonworks, the leading contributor to Apache Hadoop and a leading supplier of big data support and training services.

As a technology provider within the Hortonworks Partner Program, Pervasive products will enable users of Apache Hadoop to deliver high-performance solutions with less hardware and lower energy usage.  Pervasive DataRush for Hadoop accelerates every node in a Hadoop cluster by efficiently exploiting its multicore capabilities, and TurboRush for Hive provides automatic speed up of Hive queries. Both products support powerful MapReduce application performance with a smaller number of nodes.

“We are excited to partner with Pervasive and to broaden the ecosystem around Apache Hadoop to make it easier to use, integrate and consume,” says Mitch Ferguson, vice president of business development at Hortonworks. “There is a growing need to integrate data between Hadoop and other enterprise data systems. The partnership between Pervasive and Hortonworks will enable data analysis spanning structured and complex, and unstructured data.”

“We are pleased to partner with Hortonworks as we continue to increase our focus on usable, high-impact big data technology,” said Mike Hoskins, Pervasive CTO and general manager, Pervasive Big Data Products and Solutions.  “We, like Hortonworks, have a passion for fully leveraging the Hadoop platform to deliver robust, scalable big data management and analytics capabilities.  I’m confident our combined offerings can provide powerful solutions for big data innovators.”
