San Francisco, Calif. – July 28, 2009 – PivotLink, the leading provider of business intelligence solutions delivered via Software as a Service (SaaS), today announced it has been selected by IT research and advisory services firm Burton Group for the single sign-on interoperability event during its Catalyst Conference North America 2009 on July 29, 2009 in San Diego, California.
Top technology providers, SaaS application providers, Internet properties, and social software sites will demonstrate how standards such as SAML, WS-Federation and OpenID offer a more secure method of accessing and sharing sensitive data in multiple application environments across the cloud.
PivotLink will demonstrate how security capabilities in SaaS BI solutions have matured to address today’s stringent data governance, risk and compliance (GRC) requirements for enterprise companies. From financial services to healthcare, PivotLink’s multi-tier security model exceeds the capabilities of many on-premise BI solutions, offering customers the utmost assurance and trust in sharing highly-sensitive data across their firewall.
“Security is the 800 pound gorilla for SaaS, particularly when you’re analyzing highly sensitive information, like financial data and patient care metrics,” said Dyke Hensen, chief marketing officer, PivotLink. “It’s rewarding to be recognized for accelerating the adoption of cloud-based BI solutions by delivering a complete security solution. We’re pleased to join with Novell in demonstrating how robust business intelligence application and database security can be combined with enterprise-class synchronized and federated identity and access management.”
“SaaS and cloud-based applications are the trend as utilizing off-premise applications and will continue to be priority for enterprises looking for cost-effective and alternative ways to deploy applications,” said Gerry Gebel, vice president and service director at Burton Group. “We are very happy to have PivotLink participating in the interoperability demo to show how federation is a key security component for a SaaS platform.”
Novell separately announced it will demonstrate the Novell Cloud Security Service with PivotLink during the event. The solution allows PivotLink to extend its security model by integrating PivotLink’s application and data level security into the overall framework.
“Our collaboration with PivotLink is a great example of our vision for transparent and trustworthy cloud computing based on robust identity and access management,” said Justin Steinman, vice president, Solution and Product Marketing at Novell. “The Novell Cloud Security Service enables enterprise customers to impose their security standards and policies in a cloud computing environment, which means customers can confidently use cloud-based applications.”
